VIADUCTO is a bookshelf made of solid Oyamel, a Mexican tree used in construction sites since the 16th century. The embedded hardware is made of stainless steel, which adds structural stability to the piece. The bookshelf is inspired by the brutalist edifications in Mexico City of the 70’s, particularly the ones in Viaducto Avenue. The hardware are informed by baroque chests made in colonial Mexico. The mixture of references makes the piece hover between past and future.
